Chigwell Construction has a reputation for helping community initiatives and this was highlighted once again when we approached by one of our clients, Shepherds Bush Housing Association asking for our help in the run up to Christmas. They told us about a number of elderly and vulnerable residents in their Sheltered Accommodation, a lot of whom had no family and little contact at Christmas. Shepherds Bush were going to fund a Christmas party for them, but were also hoping to give them a Christmas Hamper as well, and that is where we came in. We were delighted to donate a number of hampers which were then distributed to the most needy and vulnerable SBHA residents to help make their Christmas’s just that little bit more merry.

One of our local football clubs Dagenham and Redbridge FC were also in need of help at the beginning of the 2015-2016 season. The sponsor of their stadium had decided not to renew their contract so we stepped in with a three-year sponsorship deal. We are proud to be supporting such a fantastic club, especially as many of our employees live in the local area and get behind the team.

The Collier Row Community Group work hard to bring local people together and actively promote the benefits of living and working in the area. When we heard they might have to cancel their annual carnival due to lack of funds we stepped in with a five-figure sum to guarantee its long-term future.
In 2016 the Directors of Chigwell Construction were awarded the mayors Civic Medal in recognition of their charity work.
They were nominated by Leslie Haylett and Ella Rayment from the Collier Row Community Group for their support of the Collier Row Carnival which was faced with cancellation. Their nomination letter to the mayor went as follows.
“In 2016 the Collier Row Community Group were in a situation of limited funding to go ahead with the 2016 Carnival and Fun Day. It was suggested that we approach the Chigwell Window Centre that had recently opened in Chase Cross Road Collier Row.
This we did and we asked them if they could possibly help towards the funding of the 2016 Collier Row Carnival and Fun day.
We had a meeting with them and they were more than willing to help with the Carnival and Fun Day we explained that we hold 2 annual events in Collier Row, one being the Summer event and the other being the Christmas event. They expressed a wish to help fund both of the 2016 events by donating a massive sum of £20,000. This enabled us to put on 2 spectacular events.
It was great working alongside them and we hope to work with them for all of the forthcoming events.
Kind Regards
Lesley and Ella
CWC Chairman Dean Floyd says, “We were absolutely delighted to be recognised for the help we have given the Collier Row Community Group. We believe passionately in doing what we can to help the local community where our businesses are based which in this particular case enabled the organisers to put on two fantastic local events.”
