Residents of St Francis Court - 11/10/2011

Chigwell Construction and the residents of St Francis Court come together for an afternoon of music.

On Monday 10^th October residents at St Francis Court in Stoneway Road, Southend enjoyed an afternoon performance from popular entertainment Sax & Sinatra. The charismatic Malcolm Pugh sang Frank Sinatra songs accompanied by the brilliant Sue Floyd on Saxophone.
Residents were greeted with a buffet of Sandwiches, cakes and drinks for their afternoon of entertainment. It is fair to say that a good time was had by all!

Dean Floyd Managing Director said that "this is just one way Chigwell Construction likes to give back to the community"

Chigwell Construction successfully completed a Wet Room refurbishment project at St Francis Court, just one of many schemes being carried out by Chigwell for Genesis Housing Association.

Ann Hayes, Deputy Regional Manager for Genesis Housing congratulated Chigwell Construction on an excellant job stating that the works had gone really well with the operatives being really tidy and that many positive comments had been received from the tenants.
Builder & Engineer Awards 2011 - 07/10/2011

Chigwell Construction attended the Builder & Engineer Awards on Wednesday 5^th October 2011 and was shortlisted for the categories of Corporate Social Responsibility and Main Contractor (under £40m). Ten of the Chigwell Management team attended the awards ceremony in Manchester, but finished narrow runners-up in both categories to a large contractor (CSR) and a locally based construction company (main contractor under 40m).

Managing Director Dean Floyd was also asked to present the Public Sector Project of the year award to reflect the achievement of reaching the shortlist in two categories.

Dean commented:

"It was a major achievement being shortlisted among some large and influential names in construction. We came away empty handed, but it was a terrific night enjoyed by all. We believe it symbolises the further advances and progress of the company and hope to go one better next time"
Senior Resident Liaison Officer joins team - 02/10/2011

We are delighted to welcome Danny Griffiths as a new member of our Resident Liaison Team. Danny has been appointed as Senior Resident Liaison Officer having worked in the construction industry for 7 years working for both the Public and Private sector. Danny's past experience stems from Decent Homes Schemes, Responsive Repairs and Void works. His first assignment with Chigwell Construction will be working on the Genesis Housing Association Contract. We hope Danny will have a long and rewarding career at Chigwell Construction.

"I have been at Chigwell for just over 1 month now and am really enjoying working here. The strong family ethos that Chigwell presents is very refreshing and makes you feel that you are part of something really worthwhile".
Photo Shoot - 01/10/2011

Chigwell Construction wanted to update their photo library and instructed Damian Comans of Damian Comans Photography to take some shots of our new livery and some on site shots. The logistics of moving all vehicles in to position was a mammoth task but having worked with Damian before we knew we were in good hands. Gary Ingram of Brand-ing the company behind the design of the vehicle livery was on hand also to give us some design direction. The shoot was a major success and we would like to thank all the staff who gave up their Saturday morning to assist us with this project, it was greatly appreciated. New Site Office in Southend - 30/09/2011

Chigwell Construction beat off a lot of competition from other contractors in securing the Genesis Kitchen and Bathroom Replacement Installation Programme for Genesis Housing Association. Works commenced in September 2011 in Southend, where Chigwell have set up there site office from which to service the contract and provide a meeting area and point of enquiry for residents. The site is situated at Elizabeth Tower off Baxter Road in Southend. The contract is due to run from September 2011 to February 2012 with a possible extension at the end of this term. All properties handed back to date have been without any defects or snagging, with customer and resident satisfaction KPI's achieving 100%.

The programme then moves to Chelmsford where a site set up has already been established, and then onto Colchester, Essex. Chigwell expect to complete works well within the timeframe stipulated by the client, and hope to secure further works based on the success demonstrated to date.

New Band Mayhem - 06/09/2011

Chigwell Construction are proud to be sponsoring new local band, Mayhem. The band includes four members who all attend the same school in Essex, Aaron Floyd on keyboard, Matthew Thompson on drums, Theo Harris and Ella Sandle on vocals. The band was originally formed in October 2010 by the boys all aged 9, whilst Ella also aged 9 joined later on in December. The first song they performed live was Black Eyed Peas 'I Gotta Feelin'. They have been asked to perform at many events including their school assembly and open day, at a Royal Wedding street party and and the Esporta Health & Fitness in Romford. Their first CD was recorded back in May this year which includes a comical opening by Aaron Floyd with a further three cover tracks, 'I Gotta Feelin', 'Forget You' and 'Don't Stop Believing'. Chigwell Construction will be providing the band with a sign written vehicle to attend all their venues in which we hope will further promote the band. Builder & Engineer Awards - 30/08/2011

Chigwell Construction is proud to announce their shortlist nomination for the categories of the 'Main Contractor (under £40m) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the Builder & Engineering Awards' 2011. http://awards.builderandengineer.co.uk/

Competition was strong, with more than 50 applicants entering the main contractor category and 34 entering the CSR category. There is a final shortlist of 5 companies for the CSR and 3 for the Main Contractor Category (including Chigwell).

"It is nice to have our contribution in the CSR category and success as a Principal Contractor acknowledged. It is an achievement to be shortlisted for both categories with such stiff competition and this is testament to the quality and hard work of all the staff. This years' event will be held on the 5th October 2011 at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Ground, Old Trafford, Manchester, which looks a terrific facility having just undergone major refurbishment works. Chigwell has booked a table at the event and it promises to be a good night - even better if we can scoop one or both of the awards!"

IS0 9001 - 01/08/2011

Chigwell Construction are proud to announce their success in securing the ISO 9001 accreditation with BSI (UKAS accredited). This followed a rigorous two day audit of Chigwell's offices and sites, and confirms the company's ability to operate and function successfully as a business. This is testament to its staff, as well as the policy and procedures they operate.

We are confident of attaining the ISO 14001 accreditation with BSI later this year, which will confirm the companies commitment and ability to successfully operate its environmental management system.
Genesis Housing Association Ltd - 15/07/2011

Chigwell Construction is proud to announce their success in securing The Kitchen and Bathroom Installation Programme for Genesis / Paddington Churches Housing Association (PCHA).

The framework is divided into three geographical lots across London and locations in Essex and Hertfordshire, with total approximate value of £1.5m per lot. Chigwell was successful in securing Lot 2, it’s preferred Lot.

There was a lot of competition for this contract which involved a rigorous PQQ and tender application process, as well as a presentation attended by Chigwell's management team. The Presentation panel were clearly impressed by Chigwell's proposal, which was supported by references to past and present examples of successful contract delivery.

We look forward to commencing this contract in August 2011.
